This selection (3403995 bytes, 3:32) is for Ralph and anyone else who loves African music. The name of the particular genre escapes me, but I’d describe it as big-city African dance-pop. Whacked down out of the ether from Africa Number One, Moyabi, Gabon, during its testing phase on February 5, 1981. (I wonder who won that Peugeot?) It appears I neglected to make note of the frequency.

I get a 404 when I click on the link. :-(

Well, that was dumb of me. The link matched the filename on havana, but something was clipping the filename at the # in its name. I should have tested it first!
At any rate, I got rid of the illegal character, and tested it, and you can grab it now. Thanks for the advisory.

Yeah, # is a reserved character in URLs. It denotes internal anchors within a file. So the original URL was looking for a file named 19810205-Song_From_Africa_ with an anchor inside it named _1.mp3.
The only genre name I can come up with for this would be funk. It seems to hew pretty closely to 1970s American funk for the most part, except for the drum break about 2/3 of the way in, which sounds way more African than the rest of the tune. I’m having a hard time placing the drum break, though. Neat stuff! Thanks for sharing.
